Global Cooling Watch 2023 - Keeping it Chill: How to meet cooling demands while cutting emissions

cover

As the world becomes increasingly warmer, the demand for cooling is rapidly growing to protect not only from rising temperatures, but also to keep food fresh, vaccines viable and economies productive.

This report demonstrates the potential and the pathways to achieve near-zero emissions from cooling. Using a model created specifically for the report, it presents pathways to get to near-zero emissions in the key cooling sectors and provides a call to action for countries to pursue the policies and strategies that have the greatest impact in reducing cooling-related emissions and advancing sustainable cooling for all.

It also lays out sustainable cooling measures in three areas: passive cooling, higher-energy efficiency standards, and a faster phase down of climate-warming refrigerants.
