Green Skills in Jordan: Mapping of Demand and Supply

Jordan report cover

Jordan’s transition toward a green economy requires a workforce equipped with relevant green skills that align with market demand.

This study analyzes the demand and supply of green skills across Amman, Irbid, Mafraq and Zarqa, focusing on current requirements, future trends and the capabilities needed for the green transition. The findings point to notable gaps between what employers need and what workers can offer.

Drawing on surveys with 444 businesses and 1,019 working-age individuals, alongside focus groups and key informant interviews, the assessment uses the ESCO framework to identify 11 priority skill areas, including electricity and energy, environmental protection and water-related technology, environmental regulation, circular economy, and waste management.
