Harmonized Calculations Methods for Product Carbon Footprints and Life Cycle Assessments in the Mining and Metals Industry

The mining and metals industry is facing growing demand for product carbon footprint (PCF) and life cycle assessment (LCA) information from customers, investors and regulators. 

At the same time, the number of standards and guidelines governing how PCF and LCA studies should be conducted continues to expand, making reporting increasingly complex. 

To address this challenge, the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) developed methodological recommendations to harmonize the calculation of metal PCF and LCA results. These recommendations are presented in this paper.
