standards for sustainable trade and sustainable trade finance

This report provides an outline of the current status and recommendations for sustainable trade and trade finance. It sets out what specifically constitutes a sustainable trade transaction, and proposes a framework and assessment methodology to qualify sustainable trade transactions, including how standards will be applied to enable this assessment.

The paper has been prepared by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and more than 200 of its members, partnered with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The goal of the project is to accelerate global trade’s role in helping businesses meet both the Paris Agreement towards a reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
