To help meet the challenge of feeding a growing global population within planetary boundaries, this report explores the critical role of agricultural subsidies and their environmental impacts.
Convened by TESS, a diverse group of global experts reviewed evidence on how these subsidies shape production, consumption and sustainability across economic, environmental and social dimensions.
The report calls for a shared understanding of what constitutes environmentally harmful subsidies and outlines policy options – from international frameworks to voluntary commitments – to guide reform. Its goal is to support global dialogue and collaboration across institutions such as the WTO, FAO, UNEP and others to advance sustainable agriculture.
