New and innovative digital approaches that facilitate access to finance have the potential to support the socioeconomic empowerment of women in Asia and the Pacific. This paper outlines the significance of financial technology in overcoming limitations to accessing digital products and services, such as connectivity and literacy issues. It examines digital financial services and products—powered by financial technology—as well as low technology solutions that can boost digital financial inclusion for women in remote and rural areas. The paper finishes by providing recommendations on actions to overcome barriers and promote digital financial inclusion, aimed at the development community, policymakers and regulators, and financial services providers.
