Integrating Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and Climate Change Policy: A Strategic Contribution to Strengthening Sri Lanka's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0)

Organisation:

Sustainable consumption and production (SCP) is central to climate action, addressing emissions by changing how resources are extracted, used and managed. For Sri Lanka, this is vital given its fossil fuel dependence, rapid urbanization and resource-intensive industries, alongside high vulnerability to climate impacts.

This report shows how embedding SCP into Sri Lanka’s NDC 3.0 creates a timely opportunity to align development priorities with climate goals, serving both mitigation and adaptation needs.

Integrating SCP into national planning can advance a low-carbon, resource-efficient future that supports sustainable growth and strengthens climate resilience.
