As the world’s fourth most climate-vulnerable country, Nepal faces extreme weather that threatens agricultural livelihoods and exacerbates gender inequalities. Women, who make up 75% of the agricultural workforce, contend with wage gaps, limited access to resources, and heavy unpaid care burdens, all of which hinder their ability to adapt.

This policy brief highlights the vulnerability of women entrepreneurs and smallholder farmers in Nepal’s coffee and pashmina value chains amid a worsening climate crisis.

It outlines eight policy recommendations to better direct climate finance toward building resilience in women-led businesses and advancing inclusive adaptation in key value chains.
