There is a growing body of literature investigating the labor market consequences of scaling up “green” policies. However, most of the evidence is focused on the labour market implications for developed economies, and little is known about the consequences of greener growth on jobs for developing countries.
This paper aims to fill the knowledge gap regarding the impact on developing countries by examining the prevalence of green occupations and sectors across various levels of economic development. It defines green occupations using the Occupational Information Network and identifies green sectors based on their lower greenhouse gas emissions per worker.
The report also assesses how the implementation of green policies aimed at expanding green sectors and increasing demand for green skills affects workers in developing economies.
