National Circular Economy Roadmaps: A global stocktake for 2024

Since 1999, 75 national circular economy calls to action, roadmaps and operational strategies have emerged, with 71 launched since 2016. This increase reflects a growing global commitment to the circular economy.

This global stocktake analyses and codifies the 75 national circular economy initiatives, examining 2,882 policy actions by theme and sector. It also seeks to clarify the distinctions between calls to action, roadmaps and operational strategies and understand their content, design, governance, alignment with broader objectives, coordination, implementation status and efficacy.

The insights from this stocktake are crucial for policymakers, NGOs, community groups and industry actors.
