Climate change is an existential threat to every person on this planet. It is one of the most important issues facing humanity and it requires a comprehensive global response. This report discusses how resource efficiency and resource sufficiency can cut greenhouse gas emissions.
This report sets out eight ways in which resource efficiency can help to deliver net zero. This can be done by: tackling food waste; cutting calories and carbon at the same time; changing the carbon intensity of our diets; switching from goods to services; making better use of existing products; designing lightweight products; recycling more in the UK; and substituting materials.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, these strategies can form part of the opportunity to build back better and greener.
