Pre-feasibility Study on a Battery Swapping System for Electric 2-wheelers in Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR

With large untapped and low-cost renewable energy resources from hydropower, Laos should take advantage of shifting its transport sector to electric mobility practices. 

This pre-feasibility study assesses the potential applicability to the Lao context of the innovative 'battery swapping' business model, which is proving successful in accelerating general adoption of e-motorbikes in a growing number of countries in Asia.

The study reviews the different possibilities in fee and operating models, proposes financial models and identifies potential local partners. It includes a focus on battery waste management to minimize negative impacts on the environment.
