This report summarizes the Regional Workshop for Europe, Asia and Africa: Mainstreaming Gender in National Implementation Plans under the Stockholm Convention, which brought together Stockholm Convention focal points, national officials, regional centre representatives, technical experts, civil society organisations and NGOs representatives from the Europe, Asia, Africa and beyond.
Participants engaged in interactive dialogue on integrating gender considerations into chemicals management and National Implementation Plan (NIP) update under the Stockholm Convention. Speakers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kenya, Armenia and the United Kingdom highlighted how gender shapes chemical exposure and emphasized the need for sex-disaggregated data, women’s participation and integrating gender from the start of NIP updates.
The workshop formed part of the GEF-funded, UNEP-led global NIP update project, with the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) leading Component 4 on knowledge sharing and coordination with the Convention Secretariat.
