Renewable Energy: A gender perspective

The global shift to renewable energy is vital for cutting emissions and, with the right policies, can also improve livelihoods, create jobs, expand opportunity and strengthen energy security. 

This second edition updates IRENA’s 2019 assessment of women’s roles in the sector, drawing on a global survey to highlight participation trends, barriers and the measures needed to enable women’s full inclusion.

The findings underscore that gender equity is both just and essential: the energy transition cannot succeed without half the world at the table.
