Covering the entire life cycle of chemicals, including products and waste, the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC) promotes initiatives and partnerships that support the prevention of harm from chemicals and waste and accelerate progress towards their sound management worldwide.
This report provides an overview of how the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions contribute to the implementation of the GFC, including their mandates, activities and opportunities for enhanced coordination.
It outlines the BRS Conventions' contributions across GFC objectives, engagement with the GFC Secretariat and the Inter-Organization Programme for the Sound Management of Chemicals (IOMC), as well as recommendations for strengthened action.
