Report on mapping linkages between all 17 SDGs and sound management of chemicals and wastes

Chemicals are used in a wide variety of products and processes in almost every sector and produced in an equally wide number of sectors. They contribute significantly to the well-being of society and are essential for sustainable development and for meeting the challenges of the future.

This report maps the linkages between all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sound management of chemicals and wastes in terms of goals, targets and indicators, through the international chemicals and wastes multilateral environmental agreements.

It highlights critical MEAs such as the Basel, Rotterdam, Stockholm and Minamata Conventions, and outlines how actions under these agreements impact each of the 17 SDGs. The report contributes to advancing the understanding of policymakers and other relevant stakeholders on how the implementation of the chemicals and wastes MEAs impacts achieving the 2030 agenda.
