Shared Responsibility, Global Solidarity: Responding to the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19

Organisation:
United Nations (UN)

The United Nations has released a report calling for large-scale, coordinated and comprehensive multilateral response to the COVID19 pandemic. It covers the immediate health response to suppress transmission and stop the pandemic, led by the World Health Organization (WHO), to the knock-on effects on millions of people’s lives, their livelihoods and the real economy. The reports calls for a focus on people – women, youth, low-wage workers, small and medium enterprises, the informal sector and on vulnerable groups who are already at risk. The report estimates that at least 10 per cent of global GDP is needed.
