The status of the transition to green & fair economies:

Amidst escalating threats such as climate change and biodiversity loss, glimmers of hope are emerging with social justice becoming central to the green transition, and low- and middle-income countries defining their own pathways. Significant movements for global financial reform are gaining traction, marking a new dawn for green macro-economic governance.

This report highlights current trends, opportunities and challenges in the global transition towards a green and just economy. It underscores the importance of social justice in climate action, the rise of independent transition pathways in developing countries, and the evolving agenda for multilateral finance reform.

It examines five action areas required for a full-scale transition: measuring and governing; reforming the financial system; greening economic sectors; tackling inequality; and valuing nature. These action areas are not mutually exclusive, rather they are all intertwined and interdependent.
