Synthesis Report on the Road Map for Securing Conditions for Sustainable Monitoring of POPs

cover page

This report reviews progress in monitoring persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and shows how years of capacity-building and data collection have built a strong foundation for sustainable monitoring in support of the Stockholm Convention.

It highlights achievements of the Global Monitoring Plan, such as data on human milk, air and water, while noting gaps that remain. Sustaining these efforts is key to ensuring reliable data for sound decision-making.

The roadmap calls for stable funding, technical support and stronger science–policy links. Countries are encouraged to develop national monitoring plans, strengthen regional labs and networks, and use results to guide POPs management.
