UN Global Compact Africa Strategy 2021–2023

Africa is a resource rich, youthful, geographically vast and politically diverse continent with expanding economies, robust private sectors and markets, growing wealth and capital, and improving governance and institutions. However, it continues to face challenges related to infrastructure reach, access to finance, informality and global competition leading to economic inequality and poverty. The global pandemic and climate change exacerbate these challenges.

To accelerate the sustainability journey of the broader private sector, including large businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa, the Global Compact engages business associations, industry supply chains and financial institutions and other providers of capital.

This report outlines the UN Global Compact Africa Strategy for 2021-2023. The strategy aims to accelerate and scale the impact of the private sector to drive progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals across the African continent.
