This report provides an overview of South Africa’s export performance over the past decade for both goods and services and discusses how trade policies and trade facilitation reforms can support robust, inclusive and resilient economic growth.
It supports policy dialogue with the Government of South Africa on trade, particularly in the context of recent challenges such as supply-chain disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing geopolitical and climate-related uncertainties.
It also proposes recommendations to enhance trade competitiveness, including leveraging new trade agreements, improving trade facilitation, addressing non-tariff barriers, and boosting the capabilities of local firms to diversify products and markets.
