The Climate Change Action Plan 2021–2025 aims to advance the climate change aspects of the World Bank's Green, Resilient, and Inclusive Development (GRID) approach, which pursues poverty eradication and shared prosperity with a sustainability lens.
While the action plan emphasizes the importance of climate finance and its effects on adaptation and resilience, it also supports nature-based solutions for mitigation and adaptation efforts. Central areas are focus include aligning climate and development, identifying and prioritizing action on the largest mitigation and adaptation opportunities, and using those to drive (private) climate finance.
The GRID-approach should ensure that countries and private actors can follow broader development objectives while simultaneously collecting climate finance to adapt for climate change.
