The extractive sector presents enormous opportunities and challenges for advancing sustainable development, particularly in low-income countries.
The 2019 OECD Green Growth and Sustainable Development (GGSD) Forum, Greening heavy and extractive industries: innovation and fiscal implications, explored the role of policy, trade, responsible business and innovation for improving the environmental performance of the mining sector and minerals industries while maximizing local benefits including job creation and new business opportunities.
On 5 December 2019 the GGKP convened panelists from government, industry and the scientific community for a recap of the 2019 GGSD Forum and a discussion on key takeaways from the two day event.
In addition to providing a first-hand account of the GGSD Forum for those that are unable to attend, this webinar aims to support the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) resolution on mineral resource governance, which underlines the need to share knowledge and experience for the sustainable management of metal and mineral resources worldwide.
