On 30 July 2024 (14:00-16:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) hosted the online webinar "Navigating the Production, Use, and Trade of New POPs (2009-2022) with Key International Databases and Statistics".

The session offered a comprehensive overview of the production, use, and trade of newly listed persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and guided participants on accessing relevant international databases and statistics. It highlighted the importance of understanding production quantities and key periods for effective inventory, prioritization, and management of POPs. During the webinar, the report on "Production, Use, and Trade of POPs Newly Listed in the Stockholm Convention 2009 to 2022" by UNEP was presented.

Objectives:
  • To provide an overview of the historical and current production and use of POPs, which shall serve as a basis for developing and evaluating inventories for the National Implementation Plans.
  • To provide information on which POPs are still produced and used in new products and which POPs have stocks in use subject to recycling and circular economy.
  • To provide information on accessing relevant publications, international databases, and statistics on POPs production, trade, and use.
Target audience:
