Pollution reduction in banking: agriculture sector

? 2 September 2025

? 14:00-15:15 CEST

UNEP FI and the FARM Programme invite to join the online talk “Pollution reduction and management in banking”. This webinar will share key insights from the work on the new guidance for the agriculture and construction sectors. It builds on the UNEP FI Navigating Pollution: A Blueprint for Banks, published in December 2024.

Working in partnership with the FARM Programme, UNEP FI has developed recommendations for financial institutions to tackle pollution reduction and management in agriculture. By redirecting the finances and policies towards low-input, pollution-free agrifood value chains, the banking sector can take a leading role in transitioning to sustainable farming practices, safeguarding human health and ecosystems, and ensuring food security for future generations.

The webinar will explore how pollution action aligns with emerging regulatory trends and broader climate and nature goals, and share perspectives from banks, policymakers, and scientists across water, soil, and air pollution.

The online talk marks the launch of the FARM Knowledge Series on Financing Healthier and Safer Agrifood Systems, which will be held between September 2025 and April 2026. The online and in-person events will enhance the technical capacity of the financial community and other agrifood stakeholders to redirect public and private finance, policies, and practices towards safer, sustainable agriculture.
