On 17 November 2021 (08:15 EST), members of the UN Committee for Development Policy, UN DESA and UNIDO will host the webinar Post-Pandemic Industrial Policy: Jobs, Growth, Sustainability and Resilience.
The scale of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic has started to break inertia in policymaking. Industrial policy is seeing a revival as governments face the simultaneous challenges of securing economic recovery, addressing deep inequalities magnified by the crisis, transitioning to a low-carbon economy and adapting to climate change. Participants will address the following question: What needs to be fundamentally different in post-pandemic industrial policy in order to reconcile ecological, social and economic ambitions?
