On the 14th of April at 16:00 (CEST), Reuters is hosting a webinar on "Financing the Energy Transition".

The second episode in Reuters Events Energy Transition Series, this webinar will deep-dive into the "trillion dollar question": where's the money going to come from? The Energy Transition team at Reuters Events brings you an industry leading panel, including:

  • Joost Bergsma, CEO & Managing Partner, Glennmont Partners
  • Stuart Broadley, CEO, Energy Industries Council
  • Olivier Warnan, Investment Director, BNP Paribas
  • Dominic Grocott, Head of ESG Investment, Reuters Events

The OECD estimates that $6.9 trillion of investment in decarbonisation is needed annually up until 2030 to stick within the Paris targets. The European Green Deal in itself represents a €1 trillion opportunity, with policy makers aiming to 'crowd in' investment for a sustainable finance market in Europe. The webinar will touch on vital lessons learned from the last 20 years of phase-one renewable energy development to understand how the future energy system could look. Additionally, it will discuss the sustainability of financing models (further subsidies; tax exemptions; state funding), and how innovation and new technology will impact the transition and where venture capitalists are placing their bets.
