On 19 October 2023 (17:00 CEST), the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) is hosting the webinar Riding the Waves of Resilience: Empowering coastal communities.
Community engagement and empowerment are crucial elements for the success of any project. They play a vital role in informing communities about the challenges that impact their homes and empowering them to take action.
This webinar will discuss two projects -- SeaPaCS and Save the Waves -- which represent two distinct approaches to coastal community engagement. SeaPaCS is a European-funded project that focuses on data collection and actively involves local communities in the process. Save the Waves is a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of surfing spots. It has developed the Save the Waves app, which places the monitoring process directly into the hands of users, thereby promoting community involvement.
