On 31 January 2022 (11:00-1:00 SAST), the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), in partnership with Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS), is hosting the webinar South Africa's Energy Fiscal Policies.
The webinar will provide participants with a first look at the IISD's report South Africa's Energy Fiscal Policies: An inventory of subsidies, taxes and policies impacting the energy transition. The report, which explores methods for climate change mitigation in South Africa, outlines recommendations for integrating low-carbon energy measures through the country's energy fiscal policies. Among a wide-range of relevant themes, the agenda will evaluate issues regarding carbon tax, bailouts, fossil fuel subsidies, and oil and gas exploration.
The event will take place online and include a panel discussion with Q&A integrated.
