On 14 July 2021 at 10:00 CET, the Capitals Coalition is holding a webinar - "Valuing Natural Capital & Local Communities for Business in Eastern & Southern Africa: Capitals and Capacity Needs".

This webinar series aims to build awareness of the relevance and potential of a capitals approach for decision-making in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Eastern & Southern Africa. The series will build on the outcomes and insights delivered through the online African Forum on Green Economy – Investing in Natural Capital for a Resilient Africa, organised by the Capitals Coalition, IUCN and partners, in 2020. This new series will feature and discuss practical examples, opportunities and tools for SMEs in Eastern & Southern Africa to include the value of natural capital and local communities in decision-making.

In this penultimate session, we will focus on the needs and opportunities for building capacity in SMEs across Eastern & Southern Africa to assess and account for natural capital. We’ll hear examples from other geographies and from the governmental statistical community and explore opportunities to strengthen capacity in the region to integrate natural capital into decision-making.

Other sessions in the series include:
14th April - Natural, Social and Human Capital and its relevance for SMEs
12th May - Capitals Impacts and Dependencies of the Tourism Industry
16th June - Transforming Decision-making for SMEs
