On the 23 April 2020 at 15:30 (CEST), the World Resources Institute (WRI) is hosting a webinar on 'Enhancing NDCs: Opportunities in the Forest and Land-use Sector'.
As countries consider ways to increase the ambition of their current national climate plans for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, they appear to be overlooking significant opportunities in forest and land-use conservation, restoration, and management. Measures aimed at improving the ecological state of deforested or degraded landscapes through tree planting and other means are cost-effective solutions for large-scale reduction of GHG emissions and removal of carbon from the atmosphere.
During this webinar, WRI and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) experts will give an overview of new guidance, NDC Enhancement: Opportunities in the Forest and Land-use Sector and Ecuador's Environment Ministry will share the country’s experience and perspective, having already submitted a revised NDC in 2018, with an enhanced role for the forest sector.
- Paige Langer, Research Analyst, WRI
- Kimberly Todd, Technical Specialist, Climate and Forests Team, UNDP
- Carlos Espinosa, Undersecretary of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment of Ecuador
