CAREC commits to support of the Central Asia Nexus Dialogue: Fostering Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus and Multi-Sector Investment. The Action offered an innovative approach in order to find effective solutions to the problems of different level. Water-Energy-Food-Environment Nexus (WEFE Nexus). The Action supports establishment and operation of intersectoral working groups, implementation of demo projects and elaboration of investment project ideas to demonstrate applicability and feasibility of WEFE Nexus approach. The commitment falls under focus areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9. It is relevant to SDGs 13, 15 and 17. Partners include WEF related line ministries and experts, local authorities, CA Academic Network and International Financial Institutions (IFIs). This commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.

CAREC commits to support green economy and climate action through implementation of the “Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for the Aral Sea Basin” (CAMP4ASB) of the World Bank’s International Development Association and Green Climate Fund in 2016-2024. CAMP4ASB provides key stakeholders in CA countries with regionally-coordinated access to enhanced climate change information services, scaled up investment and capacity building activities. As a whole, this allows for a more effective response to common climate challenges. The project implementation period is August 2016 – May 2024, and it is funded by the International Development Association and Green Climate Fund. The project’s primary piloting areas are Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The commitment falls under focus areas 2, 3, 9. It is relevant to the SDGs 7, 13, 17. Partners include IFAS, IСWC, ICSD, Hydromets, Ministries of Environment Protection, Energy, Economy, State Statistics Committees, and ICARDA. The commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.

CAREC commits to establishing a sustainable transparency framework at the governmental level of the Central Asian Region to assess the environmental impact of climate actions and policies in order to help countries to take more ambitious climate actions and develop their NDCs in accordance with robust data. Strengthening capacity for greenhouse gas monitoring, reporting and verification MRV through the best available tools and methodologies. This is done through the establishment of the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub (ReCATH) in Central Asia by the International Climate Action Transparency Hub (ICAT). The commitment falls under focus area 9. It is relevant to SDGs 13 and 17. The commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.
