Circular Economy for the Sustainable Use on Natural Resources in the Republic of Tajikistan

This study assesses  Tajikistan's transition to a circular economy and its links to the wider green economy agenda. It identifies key legislative, policy and capacity gaps, with a focus on circularity and traceability in the garment and footwear sector, drawing on a life-cycle assessment and in-person enterprise interviews.

The study also presents action-oriented recommendations developed with the government and sequenced into immediate, medium-term and long-term priorities to support practical, phased implementation. These build on UNECE legislative instruments and best-practice guidance.

The proposed actions target the systemic barriers holding back efficient resource use and the transformation of the garment and footwear sector, setting a clear pathway for advancing Tajikistan’s circular economy transition.
