Increasing Access to Sustainable Public Services

Doumé, Cameroon is increasingly facing the effects of climate change. Droughts, floods and rising temperatures are affecting inhabitants, with many stuggling to find water or are suffering from waterborne diseases. Currently, the Municipality of Doumé has no water supply system, but relies on a number of boreholes that are insufficient for the needs of the population and social infrastructures such as hospitals. In addition, the lack of public lighting makes some parts of the municipality unsafe

Launched in 2019, the Doumé “Access to Sustainable Public Services” project aims to develop basic infrastructure for the local municipality in order to provide public services, such as access to water and energy in a climate-resilient and low-carbon manner.
