Tackling Toxics: Case studies Kenya & Tunisia 2022

Organisation:
Basel Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS), Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF), AEEFG (Environmental Education for Future Generations Association, CEJAD (Center for Environmental Justice and Development)

These case studies examine how gender shapes exposure to hazardous chemicals and waste, related health impacts, and opportunities to advance safer alternatives in Kenya and Tunisia.

They highlight promising practices in waste separation, reuse and recycling, pesticide reduction and the productive use of agricultural waste.

The findings support gender-responsive implementation of the BRS and Minamata Conventions and offer lessons for other national contexts.
