Activity Options for Action Plans on the Management and Elimination of PCBs and POP Pesticides
On 16 December 2025 (14:00-16:30 CET), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update Project (GEF ID 10785), will host a virtual webinar, "Activity Options for Action Plans on the Management and Elimination of PCBs and POP Pesticides."
The webinar will bring together Stockholm Convention focal points, National Implementation Plan (NIP) experts and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) management practitioners to strengthen understanding of practical action plan options for managing PCBs and POP pesticides in line with Stockholm Convention obligations.
The event will combine expert presentations with an interactive Q&A session, highlighting integrated approaches to POPs management, updates on the GEF/World Bank PCB phase-out project, criteria for 2025 PCB elimination targets and strategies for aligning action plans with national chemical and waste priorities.
National Coordination Mechanisms for Robust NIP Implementation
On 13 November 2025 (11:00-12:20 CET), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as a part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update project (GEF ID 10785), hosted a roundtable on “National Coordination Mechanisms for Robust NIP Implementation.”
The session examined the role of National Coordination Mechanisms (NCMs) in supporting the NIP review and update process – from preparation and consultation through review, endorsement, submission and reporting. It offered guidance on establishing or strengthening NCMs and explored how they can be leveraged to accelerate effective NIP updates and implementation.
Embedding POPs Data Management: Information Systems at National and Regional Levels
On October 28, 2025 (15:00 -16:30 CET), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as a part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update project (GEF ID 10785), will host a round table “Embedding POPs Data Management: Information Systems at National and Regional Levels.”
This event aims to bring together expertise across UNEP, Stockholm and Basel Convention Regional Centers and project countries, exploring how persistent organic pollutants (POPs) information and data systems can be effectively embedded at both national and regional scales and how these systems can better support National Implementation Plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention.
The virtual round table will comprise of three parts: (i) introduction of new knowledge resources (ii) Presentations of existing solutions by regional centers (iii) Q&A and time for country interventions.
