Regional Workshop for Latin America and the Caribbean: POPs and Border Control – HS Code Classification and Practical Application

On 18 September 2025 (16:00-18:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update Project (GEF ID 10785), will host the regional workshop "POPs and Border Control HS Code Classification and Practical Application" for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. 

The virtual workshop aims to foster a shared understanding among customs authorities, Stockholm Convention focal points, and other NIP experts on how to effectively apply the Harmonized System (HS) for identifying and controlling persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in international trade.

The session will feature a training component, followed by case studies that showcase practical approaches to chemical identification, enforcement challenges such as illegal trafficking and smuggling, and suggestions for interagency collaboration to ensure that National Implementation Plan (NIP) updates are based on reliable customs data. The workshop will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish.

On 26 August 2025 (16:00–18:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update project (GEF ID 10785), will host a regional workshop on Mainstreaming Gender in National Implementation Plans under the Stockholm Convention for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This virtual workshop will support Parties in reflecting gender considerations more effectively in chemicals management. The session will provide practical insights on integrating gender into National Implementation Plans (NIPs), featuring experiences from governments, civil society, and community groups. 

Regional Workshop for Europe, Asia and Africa: Mainstreaming Gender in National Implementation Plans under the Stockholm Convention

On 27 August 2025 (11:00–13:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update project (GEF ID 10785), will host a regional on Mainstreaming Gender in National Implementation Plans under the Stockholm Convention for countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
