Environment Europe is delighted to announce the Oxford Spring School in Ecological Economics 2020 to take place at the 800-year-old Balliol College, Oxford on 22 - 28 March 2020 devoted to Ecological Economics, Governance and Environmental Sustainability: Ecosystems, Economy, Policy.

The course Fostering Growth and Inclusion in Asia’s Cities by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) describes ways to build the capacity of Asia’s cities to boost growth and employment. The focus is on sound urban planning, efficient public transport, and affordable housing. Its main learning objectives are to better understand the patterns of urbanisation in Asia and the implications for economic growth, to learn about policy options to make urbanisation work for all, and specifically to emphasise the role of city planning.

Key elements of the EQuIP toolbox have been converted into an e-learning course. The ENABLE consortium; Commonland, United Nations University Land Restoration Training Programme, Spanish National Research Council CSIC, Nova School of Business & Economics, Rotterdam School of Management, and Erasmus University is offering a 8-week course designed in 3 phases that move the participants from ideation towards the successful implementation of a new sustainable business model for landscape restoration with 4 returns: return of natural capital, return of social capital, return of inspiration and return of financial capital.

In this course, participants will learn about the irrigation supply chain, from water sources to root zone. First, the course will cover how to calculate the amount of water plants need to produce a healthy and plentiful crop. It will then show how this water is supplied to the roots and how it gets to the field from the source. This course also illustrates how efficiency influences the design and operation of both the water application and conveyance components of irrigation systems, and it explores a number of real-world systems, including drip irrigation and surface irrigation.

On 10 February to 13 March 2020, the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) is holding the e-course, "Unleashing the power of the private sector in implementing the 2030 Agenda". Deadline for registration is on 31 January 2020.
