On 16 May 2023, the African Development Bank's Asia External Representation Office (PEXT) and African Natural Resources Management and Investment Center (ECNR) will jointly host a policy dialogue, A New Vision for Africa: Asia-Africa Cooperation on Natural Gas.
Africa is expected to become a significant producer, consumer and exporter of natural gas, while Asia has been a major importer and consumer of the resource. The cooperation between the two regions in the natural gas industry is seen as mutually beneficial and highly complementary. The policy dialogue will explore Africa's natural gas industry and highlight the crucial role of Asia-Africa cooperation in unlocking the domestic and global natural gas supply chain.
It will also provide a platform for information sharing and dialogue among the bank, Asian academics, private sector representatives and policymakers, and encourage investment in infrastructure to facilitate domestic use of natural gas as a transition energy source towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The webinar will primarily be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation services available in French.
