Global NIP Update Knowledge Management and Information Sharing Infrastructure cover

This guide, part of a GEF-funded project (GEF ID 10785) on the development, review, and update of National Implementation Plans (NIPs) under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), supports participating countries in navigating the project’s knowledge management and information-sharing system.

The project's core knowledge-sharing platform, the Global NIP Update website, provides user-friendly access to project information, deliverables, events, and curated knowledge resources, complementing existing Stockholm Convention resources. The NIP Update Group on Green Forum serves as a global community for NIP practitioners and experts, facilitating networking, knowledge dissemination, and collaboration.

The document guides countries to effectively use these resources, ensuring they can access the necessary information required to update their NIPs and fulfill their obligations under Article 7 of the Stockholm Convention.

Target audience

  • Stockholm Convention Official Contact Points and National Focal Points, particularly from project countries
  • National officials and experts involved in the process of reviewing and updating the NIPs
  • National officials and experts involved in hazardous chemicals and waste management
  • Members of National Coordinating Mechanism/Committees and Project Coordination Units/Thematic Task Groups
  • Representatives of regional centres
  • Other stakeholders

As part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led “Global Development, Review and Update of NIPs under the Stockholm Convention on POPs” project, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is executing Component 4, focused on disseminating information, managing knowledge and coordinating with the Stockholm Convention Secretariat to provide accessible, integrated tools and resources for all Parties.
