Poverty-Environment Initiative: 2013-2017

The Poverty-Environment Initiative (PEI) has supported poverty-environment mainstreaming programmes in 24 countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Latin America and the Caribbean. In particular, the aim is to mainstream poverty-environment linkages into national development, sectoral, and subnational planning and investment plans. 

This brochure introduces the poverty-environment nexus as a lens that assists policymakers to focus on pro-poor environmental outcomes and equitable, inclusive economic considerations as part of the core business of government.
