Government of Kiribati

The Kiribati 20-Year Vision 2016-2036 (KV20) is a long-term development blueprint for Kiribati. It covers the period 2016 to 2036. It is motivated by a collective aspiration for a better society by the year 2036. The vision of the KV20 is for Kiribati to become a wealthy, healthy and peaceful nation. It seeks to achieve the development aspiration by maximizing the development benefits from fisheries and tourism as key productive sectors. The development of the sector is expected to stimulate the development of other sectors through backward and forward sectoral linkages.

The Vision is anchored on four pillars: Wealth; Peace and Security; Infrastructure; and Governance. The Development of the natural capital located under the Wealth Pillar especially highlights the Green Growth aspect of the Vision. It includes implementing measures to maximizing revenue from the fisheries and marine resources, improving the contribution of the tourism sector to GDP, implementing strategies to support the development of inclusive trade and private sector, and to improve land use and planning to create additional land for commercial development.
