The coronavirus pandemic has had devastating consequences for lives and livelihoods around the world, upending economies and communities alike. Building back better post-COVID-19 will require a green economic transformation – one that focuses on the principles, priorities and pathways for inclusive green economies and delivers the linked economic, social and environmental outcomes sought by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on climate change. The Inclusive Green Economy approach links the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and enables both to have a positive influence on one another. Building an Inclusive Green Economy is not simply a matter of policy that can be undertaken by governments alone. It is made possible by brave individuals who work on solutions on many different levels.

This blog series – launched by German development agency GIZ and the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) – aims to illustrate what the transformation towards an inclusive green economy looks like on the ground. The stories capture the voices of people who are working with others to build an inclusive and green economy in their communities and inspire others to lead the way for change.
