In the low-ambition (LA) scenario, reuse efforts are more limited; however, the growing stock of discarded clothing means that even modest reuse increasingly substitutes for virgin textile demand — eventually covering it entirely.
In the high-ambition scenario, reduced consumption and longer garment lifetimes generate less textile waste overall. Combined with stronger reuse efforts, this accelerates depletion of the existing stock of discarded clothing, ultimately driving virgin textile demand to zero.
