Arpad is a portfolio manager at UBS Asset Management, where his responsibilities include the origination, structuring, financing and management of infrastructure equity investments, as well as the origination of infrastructure funds. Arpad is an investment committee member of the UBS Infrastructure Debt Platform and a supervisory board member of Saubermacher Dienstleistungs AG.
In 2016, Arpad launched the Climate Moonshot Initiative with the aim of accelerating climate change mitigation by aligning climate policy action with countries’ national interest and the short-term focused priorities of governments. The initiative focuses on two schemes, one targeting all greenhouse gas emissions and the other one focusing on hydrofluorocarbon emissions. The schemes’ incentive mechanism offers governments annual payments for emission reductions they achieve, thereby introducing a global carbon price signal without the need for a carbon tax or an emission trading scheme. The two schemes use distinct financing mechanisms due to the difference between their scale and costs.
Arpad holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Debrecen. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Arpad lives in London.
