Dr. Glenn-Marie Lange is a Senior Environmental Economist who has led the last two editions of the World Bank flagship, The Changing Wealth of Nations. Dr. Lange’s work addresses the interdependence of natural resources, economic development, and poverty reduction. She has pioneered the use of Natural Capital Accounting to integrate environmental concerns into macroeconomic and sectoral policy analysis. Her collaborative work with natural scientists integrates economic analysis and ecosystems modelling to address diverse issues, such as the contribution of mangroves to coastal protection; nature-based solutions for disaster risk management and water resources management; and creating incentives for development based on sustainable management of protected areas. Dr. Lange joined the World Bank in 2009, coming from the Earth Institute at Columbia University (2004-2008) and New York University (1985-2004). She received a Ph.D. in economics from New York University in 1990.
