This project assists the Government of Pakistan to achieve the long-term goal-- "to combat land degradation and desertification in Pakistan" with the primary objective: "to promote sustainable management of land and natural resources in the arid and semi-arid regions of Pakistan in order to restore degraded ecosystems and their essential services, reduce poverty, and increase resilience to climate change". The project will result in successful applicaiton of SLM over and area of 800,000 ha in 15 districts covering more than 200 villages.
