Climate Resilient Green Growth Assessment: For the Republic of Karakalpakstan

The Climate-Resilient Green Growth (CRGG) Assessment for the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan, was conducted for the 'Green Rehabilitation Investment Project for Karakalpakstan Republic to Address Impacts of the Aral Sea Crisis (Aral Sea GRIP).' The CRGG assesses the current status of the of the agriculture sector in both Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan, providing a contextual assessment of the exposure to sensitivity of, and adaptive capacity of the agriculture sector towards adverse impacts of climate change and natural hazards from the desiccated Aral Sea; specifically salt and dust storms (SDS).

Throughout the assessment, the CRGG identifies priority interventions needed to increase the adaptive capacity of the agriculture sector of Karakalpakstan. Interventions are informed by a literature review, secondary data analysis, and consultations with key stakeholders. Interventions fit within the government's legal and political framework and support actions under the government's development plans.
