Critical Minerals for Africa’s Inclusive Growth and Development

Critical minerals and metals are central to the energy transition, advanced manufacturing and digital transformation. 

This report examines evolving approaches to defining criticality in a shifting global context. Industrialized economies prioritize supply chain security, while resource-rich countries, especially in Africa, are advancing critical minerals strategies to spur value creation, diversification and industrial growth. 

Given the global nature of supply chains, the report calls for stronger international cooperation, particularly through the G20, and for governance frameworks that balance supply security with the Sustainable Development Goals.
