This report summarizes the roundtable on Embedding POPs Data Management: Information Systems at National and Regional Levels. It focused on strengthening POPs data management systems to support implementation of the Stockholm Convention and the development and update of National Implementation Plans (NIPs).
UNEP’s Knowledge and Risk Unit presented guidance on core elements of effective POPs data infrastructure, complemented by case studies from RECETOX–Stockholm Convention Regional Centre (Czech Republic) and BCRC-Caribbean; discussions highlighted how interoperable systems can strengthen monitoring, reporting and evidence-based policymaking, while underscoring collaboration and long-term sustainability needs.
As part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led “Global Development, Review and Update of NIPs under the Stockholm Convention on POPs” project, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is executing Component 4, focused on disseminating information, managing knowledge and coordinating with the Stockholm Convention Secretariat to provide accessible, integrated tools and resources for all Parties.
