This webinar report summarises the first training webinar Global NIP Update: What is a National Implementation Plan? – Part 1 hosted by GGKP. The report highlights key discussions of the webinar on the role of National Implementation Plans (NIPs) in managing persistent organic pollutants (POPs), the overall structure of NIPs, and the importance of POPs data for compliance and strategic planning under the Stockholm Convention.
The webinar featured insights from the United Nations Environment Programme, the Basel, Rotterdam, and Stockholm Conventions Secretariat, and national experts, who shared lessons learned from previous NIP updates and highlighted available resources, including technical guidance, inventory methodologies, and financial mechanisms, to support Parties in meeting their obligations under the Stockholm Convention.

As part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led “Global Development, Review and Update of NIPs under the Stockholm Convention on POPs” project, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is executing Component 4, focused on disseminating information, managing knowledge and coordinating with the Stockholm Convention Secretariat to provide accessible, integrated tools and resources for all Parties.
